Cognitive Automation
for Goods Receipt Processing
Reduces running costs and errors simultaneously.
Description of Problem
Documents involved in receiving of goods delivered by many suppliers may vary wildly in form and content. This makes the processing of documents challenging for our client. Each shipment or delivery is accompanied by various types of documents such as packing lists, invoices, payment terms, export permits, etc. Having to read through and check many points of data manually is very time-consuming. In addition, these documents need to be sorted and archived for compliance purposes. As a result of the time-consuming process, suppliers of our Client may not get paid promptly and might risk damaging relationships.Â
Client Overview:
The client is an electronic components distributor with offices in Asia, Europe and Middle East. They handle components from many suppliers and re-sell back to multiple customers.Â
Industry:
Logistics/ Supply Chain
Processes Type:
Goods Receipt Processing
How Gleematic Helps
Gleematic is capable of intelligent document processing (IDP) using Artificial Intelligence. It helps the client to automate data extraction from the packing lists, get the data into Excel, and subsequently enter into the enterprise software.
Extract data from a scanned PDF
Gleematic extracts different information contained in a packing list, such as customer name, purchase order number, item description, part number, unit, quantity, etc. The extraction result is placed into an Excel sheet.
Enter and verify data in the system
Gleematic copies the information from the Excel and enter it into the Inventory Management system. It can update even partial fulfillments (e.g. when the Purchase Order was for 1,000 pieces of an item but only 500 pieces were received) and updates follow-up actions needed. Humans only need to check the work done by Gleematic, rather than having to enter every data point.
