The finance sector is experiencing a transformative shift driven by the relentless advancement of artificial intelligence (AI). Companies are increasingly recognizing the immense potential of AI to streamline finance operations. The integration of AI into finance operations is not just a trend; it is a necessity for organizations aiming to stay competitive in the digital age. AI-powered automation tools are revolutionizing processes such as financial reporting, auditing, fraud detection, and customer service. As the financial landscape continues to evolve, the importance of adopting AI automation cannot be overstated.

Collaboration with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI)

Recognizing this imperative, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) on 12th July 2024 hosted a groundbreaking workshop on “Streamline Your Work with AI Automation for Finance Professionals”. This one-day workshop aimed at finance professionals to leverage on AI-powered automation to automate their finance operations such as  processing customer orders, preparing quotations, paying suppliers, bank-reconciliation, or creating reports. With these initiatives, the workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the latest AI technologies and their practical applications, equipping participants with actionable insights to drive their finance operations into the future.

With honor, we collaborate with SCCCI where we had the opportunity to showcase our AI-automation software, Gleematic, as a no-coding automation software that can streamline finance operations. The main objective with Gleematic was to provide knowledge to participants in utilizing code-free automation software, with various AI features embedded such as image recognition, machine learning, and natural language processing. With this vast AI features, participants should be able to complete finance tasks 3-5 times faster with higher accuracy, and ultimately save up to 70% of operational costs.

Bringing More Productivity and Efficiency with Finance Automation

Our CEO, Christopher Lim, was the trainer of the workshop. He delivered an insightful introduction on “Bringing More Productivity and Efficiency with AI & Autonomous Office”. This topic catered for finance professionals to get familiarized with the concept of autonomous office, theories on AI features to give participants ideas for potential use, and practical applications of the tools. With this presentation, it was expected that the participants could understand what Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is and when it is necessary for AI to augment RPA when it comes to complex process to automate.

Christopher Lim provided hands-on training sessions where participants learned to develop and deploy AI-automation scripts without any coding knowledge. With this session, participants should be able to evaluate suitable finance processes for automation and use of AI, then be able to create automation scripts (using Gleematic) to automate those processes.

AI and Autonomous Office for Finance Automation

Christopher Lim introduced “Autonomous Office” where AI and smart systems are extensively integrated to enhance productivity, efficiency, and employee experience. Key characteristics of such an office include the integration of automation and AI, data-driven decision-making, smart infrastructure, and employee empowerment.

In the finance sector, the use cases for automation are particularly compelling. Processes such as processing payments, managing receivables, reconciliation, and reporting can be significantly streamlined through RPA. Christopher Lim through the presentation demonstrated more finance use-cases where AI-automation would be applicable:

Processing Payments

Automation can streamline the process of handling payments. This by ensuring that transactions are executed efficiently and with minimal errors. This involves automatically transferring funds, managing payment schedules, and verifying transactions.

Managing Receivables

Automation helps in tracking and managing receivables by monitoring outstanding invoices and sending reminders to clients. This ensures timely payments and improves cash flow management.

Reconciliation

Automated reconciliation processes involve comparing internal records with external statements, such as bank statements or vendor reports. This ensures that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date, reducing the risk of discrepancies.

Reporting/Reminders

Automation can generate financial reports and send reminders for various financial tasks. This can include notifying staff of upcoming deadlines, generating periodic financial statements, and alerting managers to any discrepancies or irregularities.

Declarations

Automation aids in the preparation and submission of financial declarations, such as tax filings and regulatory reports. This ensures compliance with legal requirements and reduces the risk of errors in financial documentation.

“Human-Robot Collaboration” Initiatives

This workshop stood as a pivotal example of advancing “Human-Robot Collaboration” initiatives, exploring how AI can harmoniously collaborate with human expertise to revolutionize financial processes.

By spotlighting AI as a tool for enhancing rather than replacing human capabilities, this workshop underscored a progressive approach to technology adoption: how AI-driven automation can handle repetitive tasks, and human resources to focus on high-level strategic endeavors and creative problem-solving. This vision aligns closely with the concept of “Human-Robot Collaboration,” where AI serves as a supportive partner in driving operational efficiency and innovation.

Participants at the workshop gained valuable insights into practical applications of AI in finance, emphasizing collaborative models where human judgment and AI-driven insights complement each other. This approach not only amplifies productivity but also fosters a symbiotic relationship between technology and human ingenuity. By championing such initiatives, the SCCCI has positioned itself at the forefront of promoting responsible and impactful AI integration. Thus, paving the way for a future where we can maximize human potential through strategic collaboration with intelligent technologies.

Thank You!

As the workshop concluded, participants left with a renewed sense of possibility and a toolkit of strategies to implement AI-driven automation in their finance operations. The future of finance is undeniably intertwined with the advancements in AI technology. The lessons learned from this workshop will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for transformative change, enabling businesses to thrive.

We sincerely thank SCCCI for organizing the workshop and making it a successful event, as well as to the participants for the enthusiasm to learn throughout the session. It was both inspiring and thrilling for us to see participants from various industries come together to embrace the future of work with human-robot collaboration, and us to be a part of their journey!
